Introduction

This project focuses on the redesign, development, optimization, and maintenance of the BeCause online platform. The goal is to enhance its functionality, user experience, and overall performance to better support its mission.

BeCause is dedicated to making sustainability an integral part of everyday business operations. By providing a centralized, streamlined solution for collecting, managing, and communicating sustainability data, the platform empowers companies to track their environmental and social impact more effectively and become more transparent of their efforts.

The challenge

Aside from the standard website pages, the main challenge was designing the Front and Back office features. That is where businesses can showcase their sustainability information in the form of a CV and the place where they can add, edit and update this information in the background, as well as monitor other key performance indicators to make better decisions and optimize their operational processes and sustainability practices.

Because these two are the core of the platform it was important that they are well-thought thorough, and easy to navigate and interact with.

Design tasks and responsibilities

A key focus of my role was to simplify and enhance the overall user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) across all platform pages and features. My key responsibilities encompassed:

The process

My design process followed a structured yet iterative approach. I started by engaging with key stakeholders both inside and outside the company to gain a deep understanding of the platform’s requirements, objectives, and user challenges. This involved conversations with internal teams, sustainability experts, and business development representatives to ensure that the redesign aligned with both user needs and market demands. Additionally, I conducted user interviews and did a research to gather insights from the platform’s target audience, helping to identify pain points and opportunities for improvement.

Once I had a clear understanding of the requirements, I moved into the ideation phase, sketching initial design concepts and exploring different approaches. This early-stage exploration allowed me to experiment with various user flows and structural layouts before committing to a specific direction. From there, I developed low- and high-fidelity prototypes, gradually refining them to create an interactive experience that could be tested and validated with real users.

User feedback played a crucial role throughout the design process. I conducted continuous rounds of usability testing, collecting insights and making iterative improvements to ensure the platform was intuitive and efficient. Working closely with developers, I adapted designs based on technical constraints and feasibility, ensuring that the final implementation balanced both functionality and usability. This collaboration helped streamline the transition from design to development and ensured a seamless user experience.

Beyond the core redesign, I was actively involved in discussions about future improvements, making sure the platform remained adaptable and scalable. My work didn’t stop at the design phase—I continued to support the platform’s evolution, optimizing the user experience and refining features based on feedback and changing business needs.

Through this structured and iterative approach, I contributed to transforming the BeCause platform into a more user-friendly, efficient, and visually cohesive solution, ultimately enhancing long-term usability.
